Kids rule in Toca Town, the latest digital toy from Swedish app developer Toca Boca (www.tocaboca.com). Available from the App Store from Thursday 29th May (priced £1.99/ €2,69), kids can explore and have fun in the town where all their favourite Toca Boca characters live.
In Toca Town, kids can help 21 different inhabitants explore six different areas of the town, choosing from a range of activities such as shopping at the store, washing a car at the police station, or throwing a party. The open-ended nature of Toca Town lets children act out both everyday events as well as the less ordinary things they might not be allowed to do in real life such as giant pillow fights or flushing the toilet 20 times in a row – in Toca Town, anything goes!
Kids can collect cool new toys from the toy capsule machine at the store; drag and drop hats and accessories to give the characters new looks, or make adventurous new dishes with strange ingredients: whatever the activity, Toca Town’s intuitive, safe and child-friendly design ensures that kids both young and old will find something to engage with within the app.
Everything is automatically saved, so kids can return to resume play whenever they like, but if they get bored or want to start over, they can also reset each location and begin the fun all over again!
As with all Toca Boca digital toys, Toca Town has a beautifully designed interface, with no in-app purchases or external advertising. There are no rules, with the app encouraging open-ended play and creativity.
Mårten Brüggemann, Play Designer at Toca Boca, comments: “We wanted to create an environment that in itself is a sandbox for inspired and creative play, which kids can enjoy by themselves or share with a friend, sibling or parent. Toca Town is the kind of place where kids can carry out activities that they usually wouldn’t be in charge of such as getting ready for school or choosing which items to buy at the store. It also includes plenty of fresh elements for kids to interact with such as tapping the candles to light them, playing music on the stereo, and programming on the laptop computer.”
