Toca Boca’s latest release Toca Kitchen 2 launches on 18th December 2014 on the App Store. Combine a stocked fridge, a variety of kitchen tools, a creative chef, and some hungry guests and what do you get? Wild menu choices, an incredibly messy kitchen, loads of yucks and a ton of fun! Toca Kitchen 2 brings open-ended, creative play to the kitchen where kids can serve three new guests who are ready to taste anything put in front of them.
Kids can slice, fry, bake, boil and juice 16 different ingredients and spices any way they want. Blend some fish; mix up a hot dog, broccoli, and mushroom appetizer; and wash it all down with a carrot, lettuce, tomato shake. If you can imagine it, you can make it in Toca Kitchen 2.
But watch out for the guests’ reactions. Just like in real life, each guest has their own favourite (and least favourite) foods. Figure out who likes what. Can you make it taste better with a few more ingredients? How about adding a little spice to get a rise out of your guest? Use your imagination and keep experimenting. Toca Kitchen 2 also offers a vegetarian mode, ensuring that vegetarians (and kids that follow a meat free diet for any other reason) feel at home playing with the different food items.
Mårten Brüggeman, Play Designer at Toca Boca, comments:
“Cooking is fun but, more importantly, PLAYING with food is fun! There are so many exciting variables at play that can make handling food so satisfying; its consistency and feel, how it sounds when you slice it, its texture, and especially the taste of it. Tasting in itself can be such an adventure – when was the last time you ate something so hot it made your ears red? Just thinking about all these things made us hungry to explore food play even further than we did in the original Toca Kitchen – so we decided to make a sequel!”
As with all of Toca Boca’s digital toys, Toca Kitchen 2 has an intuitive, child-friendly interface, and there are no in-app purchases or external advertising. There are no rules, with the app being inherently non-competitive and encouraging open-ended play and creativity.
To celebrate the release of the new app the popular Toca Boca classic Toca Hair Salon 2 will be free to download for a limited time only.
