We’re excited to announce an amazing collaboration between Toca Boca and the Swedish band Colleagues. They’ve just released their new video for “Align,” a beautiful, atmospheric track from their upcoming EP, “Visits.” How does Toca Boca fit in? Both the song and the video were inspired by our own beautiful, atmospheric creation: the Toca Nature app!
“We always try to work with artists that inspire our music, which is why we wanted to collaborate with Toca Boca,” the band said. “We admire the company’s playfulness, and it was a great opportunity to work with a group of creative, talented people.”
The video for “Align” is set entirely in Toca Nature, an app that invites kids to create and nurture a natural habitat. Toca Nature is both beautiful and hopeful, but also depicts an isolated piece of land in the middle of space. This contrast served as inspiration for both the song and music video.
“In ‘Align’ we tried to capture the contrast between the wonderful moments and isolation in life that we found in Toca Nature — the sound was really inspired by the magical atmosphere of the app,” the Colleagues said. All Things Go describes the song as “sublime romantic pop.”
“When I first heard ‘Align’ I was amazed at how well Colleagues interpreted the raw emotion of Toca Nature,” said Emil Ovemar, co-founder and executive producer of Toca Boca apps. “The dreamy style of the app is unlike anything Toca Boca has ever produced before, and the song captures this perfectly. The video mixes the two worlds together into a gameplay directed storyline that hints at the transience of nature.”
The sound was really inspired by the magical atmosphere of the app.
